Nike + iPod = Portable Audio Running Gear

Apple and Nike, two giant corporations without clashes of common interest, but complementing each other's brand to achieve another trendy move. Apple is undeniably successful with its iPod portable audio device, and the latter is virtually a synonym to sports gear.

Nike has expanded its wide range of product line, into another arena called Nike+ (Nike Plus). The first commercial initiative is teaming up with Apple iPod to market value added footware and accessories aimed at runners.

The Nike+ product range will be available beginning from July.

Nike+iPod Sport Kit

iPod Wireless Receiver

The co-branded kit comes with a sensor tagged at USD 29 that fits into compatible Nike+ footware. The sensor itself doesn't make the world. Another wireless receiver is to be plugged into your iPod to complement the kit. While you are running, data on running time, distance, pace and calories burned would be seamlessly transferred and stored on the iPod.

Then, the data can be synchronized to Apple's iTunes program, and formatted for visualized analysis. This data can also be uploaded to your personal log at nikeplus.com.

Nike+ Ready Footware

There are a number of featured footware designed to be Nike+ compatible. All are sold without bundling with the Nike+iPod Sport Kit sensor, except Air Zoom Moire.

Nike+ Apparel and Accessories

In addition to footware, Nike+ apparels specifically designed to securely hold your iPod while on the move will also be available.
