Web Sites, Blogs Can Boost Your Career
When the staff at a Scholastic Corp. unit heard that Cindy Eng was being hired as their editorial head earlier this year, they did an online search of her name.
Fortunately for Eng, their searches led them right to her Web portfolio, a personal Web site that trumpeted her professional accomplishments, including the books she helped publish and the companies she's worked for. "I think it set their minds at ease that their new boss knew what she was doing," said the Fanwood, N.J., resident.
Eng's story illustrates what some career consultants have been telling professionals for years: Having an online presence is an important part of managing your career. They are recommending that people build online identities through Web portfolios, blogs and other forms of online publishing.

Believe it or not, I find the above statements to be true. For your information, in the month of May, I was invited by 2 different companies to submit my resume for review via email, and these 2 companies shared the same referring source – my blog. But, since I've already signed for an offer for the job I currently held, thus sorry but I've turned down the invitations.
I do strongly encourage everyone to build an online profile. It simply tells most, if not all, about you, to your prospected future employer.
But, do keep a safety border, by not revealing your company's background in blog. Better don't write anything about what you're working on as well, especially if you're dealing with projects considered P&C (private and confidential). Similar to my current situation, I'll avoid revealing my project scopes as well, or else I might get sued one day for exposing the latest weapons of my company's core product haha

Yes, you've got the point. It should better be a blog with contents relevant to your career or profession.
