Longhorn No Longer Powering on .Net?

Previously, we've heard that the next generation of Windows, code named Longhorn, will be powering on Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0. But, recent news updates are turning the above statement into a dis-believe.

We're still expecting that the .Net Framework will ship with Longhorn – on the CD and/or "in the box" in some way. But the .Net Framework won't be at Longhorn's core, we hear.

Instead, the .Net Framework will be the core for a small subset of Longhorn, specifically the Windows API Platform (WAP), which consists primarily of the "Avalon" Windows presentation system and the "Indigo" Windows communications system, our tipsters say.

Is this a bad news? Perhaps, not really, at least to the software developers. As long as the core of Longhorn is not powering on .Net framework, the existing software in the market shall still be able to run on the next generation of Windows without hay-wire of code-rewriting. Besides, the C# language born from .Net is actually cosidered a high-level language, compared to other alternatives like C/C++. Thus, powering the core on .Net, might suck up huge amout of hardware resources, as longer processing time is definitely needed to convert the MIL (Microsoft Intermediate Language) to binary.

Well, previously I've posted an article about .Net Framework 2.0 breaking .Net 1.1 applications in Beta 2 stage. If you've not read it, this article could be interesting for you :-)

well, that means .NET is not stable/mature enought to build the Windows OS.

I think in security and stable sense, it is a good news.
